Champagne is a sparkling wine produced by inducing the in-bottle secondary fermentation of wine to effect carbonation. It is produced exclusively within the Champagne region of France, from which it takes its name. While the term "champagne" is used by some makers of sparkling wine in other parts of the world, numerous countries limit the use of the term to only those wines that come from the Champagne appellation. In Europe, this principle is enshrined in the European Union by Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status. 所謂「氣泡酒 (Sparkling wine)」是指發泡性
葡萄酒的意思 , 包含「香檳 (Champagne)」
在內所有含有氣泡的葡萄酒。香檳之所以稱為
「Champagne」, 是因為它只在位於法國東北
部地名為 Champagne 的葡萄酒產地生產 , 根據歐盟原產地名稱保護法 ( PDO ) , 在法國產的其他發泡性葡萄酒以及其他國家生產的不論在酒的標簽上把自已稱作什麼則都是氣泡酒 , 不能稱為「香檳」。左圖是多姆‧佩里尼翕 ( Dom Perignon ) 香檳。
